Biggest Project Reveal Yet!

Hi guys!!

After three weeks of a blogging break, I'm back.  Before I get to the big project reveal, I have a few things to share...

First up - the real reason I went on a bloggy break is because we went on vacation.  For four weeks.  Yep, that's right, an entire month of vacation.  Since we weren't going to be home for that long, I opted to keep it a secret just in case I have any crazy stalkers.  I'm pretty sure the only person who stalks me is my handsome hubby, and that's completely fine by me, but still...ya never know!  (I pre-posted my last three posts prior to leaving.)

So, where'd we go for a month?!  Hawaii!!!

Kauai, HI
One of my best friends lives out there, and is awesomely amazing and offered to let us stay with her for an entire month!!  Our timing was impeccable...my friend closed on her home the morning we left, and is moving back to the mainland on Friday.  Because she was leaving the island, she only had a few of the essentials, and kept saying she couldn't wait to read a blog post on her 'amenities'...

So here goes ...

We were so fortunate to have one pot and one skillet to cook with.  While this might seem scarce to some, it was a perfect way to plan our meals, and it was so much easier to clean just one pot and just one skillet.

We were so fortunate to have 4 knives, 4 spoons, and 4 forks to eat with, even if they were dollar store bendy silverware.  They provided great entertainment for mixing stuff, much laughter when we bent our silverware back in place, and made us appreciate the next item all that much more!

We were so fortunate to have one good butter knife.  Those things are amazingly strong.  They can cut fruit and chicken and potatoes without flinching.  Well, a good butter knife and a strong hubby.  The strong hubby might be key to that equation, but I will never again under-estimate the power of my butter knives.

We were so fortunate to have paper plates to eat off of.  It was so nice being able to throw our plates in the garbage, and made cleaning up after dinner every night that much easier.

We were so fortunate to have a bed, even if it was made of air, to sleep on.  It was one of the most comfortable air mattresses ever, and we slept like babies.  I'll get more into why this was so comfortable in a bit.

We were so fortunate to have a friend that we can hold great conversations with, days on end, hours at a time and only stop chatting because it's way past our bedtime.  The conversations we enjoyed without the interruption of TV and internet (she has no cable) were great, in-depth, intelligent, fun, and heart warming conversations that bonded all three of us that much closer.  We will forever cherish that time we all had together.

Here's a few pics from the millions that I took :

Hawaiian Monk Seal on Waikiki Beach, Oahu, HI
Sea turtle off of the Ho'okipa Beach Rocks in Maui, HI
Chris and I at the falls at the end of the Pipiwai Trail in Maui, HI
Poipu Beach Area in Kauai, HI

Seven Sacred Pools in Maui, HI
Red Sands Beach in Maui, HI
Haleakala Crater in Maui, HI
Hanauma Bay in Oahu, HI
So now that I've filled you in on our wonderful vacation, which included wonderful and amazing trips over to the islands of Maui and Kauai, both of which we could afford to do because of our generous friend that we're so fortunate to have on the island of Oahu, I'll get onto the next item of business.

Chris is DONE.  D.O.N.E. DONE with school.  WOO HOO!!!!  He worked so hard for his Master's, put in so much blood, sweat, and tears (okay, maybe not blood...but I bled for the both of us on some of these solo home improvement projects, so that counts for him too), and I couldn't be more proud.  He didn't walk with his class, he decided he'd rather be walking in Hawaii than in Gainesville, FL ... but the sense of accomplishment and pride and joy and relief is all there!!

And finally ... the big project reveal.

A pictures worth a thousand words, so here it is :

Yep, that's me at 20 weeks pregnant (and Chris being a goof)!  This was taken on our last full night in Hawaii.  We couldn't be more excited, elated, scared, and happy all at the same time!  If you go back to September, you'll notice that my posts start dwindling down quite a bit.  Morning sickness and the pure tiredness of the first trimester hit me pretty hard.  I had a few 'do over' days where I didn't get out of bed at all and decided that I'd just try again tomorrow because today wasn't a good day.

That's all over though...I'm feeling amazing, overwhelmed, and big!!!  The amazing part might have something to do with being gone for a month in Hawaii, but nonetheless!  Oh, and the air mattress that we slept on was amazingly comfortable because it absorbed some of my new found belly so I could enjoy sleeping semi on my stomach for a few extra weeks.  I'm still trying to figure out this side sleeping thing!

Sorry I waited so long to tell you bloggy world!!  I actually just officially made the announcement today at work, and I have no idea who reads this blog, so I waited to say anything until I let the cat out of the bag.

The main deets that everyone will want to know...my due date is May 30th, 2011, and we find out Saturday morning if it's a boy or a girl!  Do you have any guesses of boy or girl based on the way I'm carrying?!  I have no idea...this whole first time Mommy / pregnant thing is all new to me, so I'm not guessing!  We'll find out soon enough!!

Oh, and... HAPPY 1 year bloggy anniversary to Kara's Korner!!!  I can't believe how much this has grown over the past year, and I hope to continue and build on how far I've come thus far.  We've got so many projects on our to-do list, that we can accomplish TOGETHER now that Chris is done with school.  And yes, that includes a nursery!!  So make sure you stay tuned to see what this year's fun projects have in store!

Hope everyone's 2011 is going well!  Our's so far is awesome!

Husband Help

I'm pretty big on having the house pretty clean when we have guests come in town or over to visit.  Since we have such a large family, this means I pretty much scrub the house every few weeks.  I know this will change when we have kids, but until then, guests get a pretty spotless house.

A few weeks back when my sister came to visit, Chris came home from work and found me scrambling around to get things finished up.  I had a busy week and ran out of time, so he came in and asked what he could do.  "CLEAN" I said.

Apparently my husband thinks my sister is really picky.  His idea of cleaning?  He took off all of the air vents, replaced the filters, and vacuumed and wiped them down.  Yes, it's something that needed to be done, but NOT right then!!!  I told him that if my sister would've said something about our air filters (they really weren't THAT dirty), then I'd tell her she was the most anal-retentive person I know!!  She's not, p.s. (love you Jenn!!!).

Then on Friday, I had Ashleigh and Erin over in the afternoon for Fun Friday with margaritas by the pool.  The house really wasn't that bad, but it needed to be picked up a bit.  Friday morning, Chris goes "oh, you're having the girls over this afternoon, aren't you?!  Here, I'll help pick up real quick." And then goes over to the living room, which is actually perfectly fine, and takes my exercise bike, which sits in a corner in the living room so I can watch TV while riding, and moves it down the hallway.  Then tells me bye, he loves me, and he'll see me later.

Seriously?!  That's picking up?!  And do I really care if my friends see my exercise bike out in my living room?  No!  Ashleigh even made a comment about the bike being in the hallway.  She asked if I really rode it right where it was, and if so, that's a pretty depressing spot to ride in.

Oh...that man tries...he's just such a goof ball.  To be completely fair to him though, he hasn't had to do much house work since we moved in here.  Two weeks after we closed on the house, he started his Master's, and most of the typical house chores went over to me.  I do love that he tries, I really do.  And it gives me something to laugh about, which at the end of the day, is what's really important.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!  I've got a few projects to share this week that I've got to put the finishing touches on, so make sure you stay tuned to see them.

Happy Monday!

Busy Weekend

Hope everyone had a great weekend!  Mine sure was busy...although it was more of the fun, socializing busy instead of the normal crafty building busy.  Yay for me...boo for you guys who tune in to see what I've created over the weekend!

We headed to the Ray's baseball game on Friday night.  Through work vendors, we had box seats with unlimited food and drink.  Combine that with a 3-2 win over the Yankees, and A-Rod going 0-4 (which meant he didn't hit his 600th home run), it all added up to a really fun, but late, night.

Saturday I should have gotten up at 345 a.m. to meet my team down in South St. Pete to do my 10 mile run.  I decided that running 10 miles on a little bit more than 3 hours of sleep wasn't a good idea, and slept in instead.  I had a baby sprinkle to go to that afternoon for Lauren, so I didn't want to be overly tired, sore, or hungry either.

Ashleigh and I went in on a large thing of diapers for the sprinkle, so I went to Ash's beforehand to try to make a cute diaper cake.  We were so proud of ourselves when we left her house (literally, high fiving each other all around for our cuteness and creativity with all of our bows and ribbons).   When we arrived at the cafe, we couldn't help but laugh at ourselves.  The only part of the diaper cake that stayed together was the top.  After spending a few minutes trying to put it back together, we decided that we'd rather not look like sweaty messes and we'd just go inside and explain our ... um, situation.  We didn't take any pictures of the cake at the house (SO unlike me!) and we forgot our camera's too for the sprinkle, so these pictures are courtesy of Lauren.

The sprinkle was so fun and the food was so yummy!!!  Check out these cute mini cupcakes they brought out:

Yes, I ate more than one.  They're mini...that means like three is equivalent to one normal sized one, right?!

After the party, we shoved all of the diapers, with the exception of the topper, into the box, shoved the box closed, put the topper on top and gave it to Lauren. Worst.gift.givers.ever!  Lauren thought it was sweet and funny, and it's definitely a diaper cake that we'll all remember, so I guess that's worth something.  We should have thought to take a picture of the box with the topper, but it was hot in the parking lot, and we were all ready to get into our a/c'd cars.

Saturday night was early to bed so I could get up at 5 a.m. and be off by 6 a.m. to run my 10 miles all by myself.  Chris and Kodi actually joined in after my first mile and hung around until mile 5 before leaving me to run on my own.  It was SUCH a hot and humid day too...even before the sun broke through, the steam was just awful.  Note to self:  Training for a half marathon in August is dumb.  Yes, it's for a good cause, but next time around, I should choose an event with a different date!

I was pretty useless the rest of the day on Sunday, although we did manage to pick out a paver color and come up with a few other fun and creative ideas for our outside pool deck area.  Stay tuned to see what we're going with!  Pretty in pink is FINALLY going to go away!  Woo hoo!

Cute Pick Me Up

My friend Lauren emailed me last week asking how I was doing. I was having kind of an off week with a lot of different things, and vented to her in my response email. Poor Lauren.

The other day I received something in the mail from her, which is semi odd because she lives about a half hour away. I opened it up and a million  a few puzzle pieces came out of the envelope.

Chris and I got to work on putting the puzzle together.  Neither one of us are very good puzzle people, so it took us a lot longer than it should have, but it was a fun break from the million different projects we've got going on right now.

Once we got it all put together, here's what she looked like:

And when I carefully flipped over the back, here's what that looked like:

(Ignore the greasy finger prints...we were eating dinner while putting it together).  It was such a nice gesture that really made me smile and lifted my mood.  It's such a small, simple gesture that can really put a smile on someone's face!

Thanks Lauren, you're awesome!!

Another Weekend Recap

Whew...I'm exhausted! I'm not sure if my weekends are a break from my week or if my weeks are a break from my weekends anymore!

So, lets do the weekend recap, with promises of longer posts with pictures later on in the week.

Chris and I celebrated our 4th anniversary. I can't believe we've been married already for four years. We're officially out of the newly wed stage I guess...someone told me the newlywed term is only valid through 3 years of marriage. We're now an old married couple. We actually took an ENTIRE day and did nothing but fun stuff. I'll have pictures later... And I am the luckiest girl in the entire world for landing Chris. He's the best husband anyone could ask for, and he's my very best friend. Maybe that's why time has flown by...

Friday night Chris helped me shove and lick 100 envelopes for my fundraiser. Seriously, he's the best.

Saturday, he got up with me at 5 a.m. to go run. Again, the best. I ran 6 miles at a pace of about 9 mins / mile. It's freaking hot. Really hot. But that's okay, because the reason I'm doing this is bigger than me being uncomfortable for a few hours running. As long as I keep the perspective, mind over matter will win every time!

We ran around and did a ton of errands, enjoyed some yummy Cracker Barrel, and then headed home and passed out. I had a hard time waking up the rest of the day, but did manage to get a few pictures hung and I worked on my annoying project some too.

Sunday we got up, and Chris did school work while I pretty much finished the worst project in the entire world. Pics to come later...I've still got finishing touches to do! In the afternoon, we tackled the yard. I can tell I'm semi sleep deprived. I ran our lawnmower through our fence. Yep, literally, through it. Pics of that later too.

So, to all who called yesterday afternoon / evening (Janelle, Yulander, Jennifer, Ashleigh), I'm sorry I didn't call you back. I was busy re-building my stupid fence from my stupid lawn mower running through it! I'm a mess!

Stay tuned this week for posts on all of the above! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Happy Monday!!

Weekend Recap

As usual, there was very little down time and a lot of craziness going on for the Hart's this weekend. And also as usual, I don't have a whole lot of time to blog this a.m....soo...here's a quick recap!

We ran 5 miles with the TEAM at 630 a.m. on Saturday, did a TON of yard work, went to the rental property and did some work there, worked on the pool, Chris worked a lot and did a bunch of school work, and I FINALLY finished up one of my small projects that I've been working on off and on for the past few weeks. I also managed to make a little bit of progress on my other "small" project that is turning out to be anything but, and will blog about both of those later on this week.

We did mix in sprinkles of fun with all of the work. Saturday at about 5, our neighbor drove by and invited us over for dinner at 7. Saweet!! It was soo good! On Sunday afternoon, we went to our friends Lauren and Greg's for a super fun Memorial Day BBQ.

And for training on Monday, we ran 3 miles after dinner. Not smart. We waited about an hour and a half before running, but that still wasn't enough time for our food to digest! Saturday's 5 miler was easier than yesterday's 3 miler. I don't know that we'll make that mistake again!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Memorial Day Weekend!!

And I'm Back...

But exhausted! I can't believe I was only gone for 5 days...it seems like I lived a life time. I think the most we slept was 5 hours one night.

Because It'd take me days to summarize our trip, and because some of the fun we had is not blog appropriate (Hi grandma and mom-in-law! Love you guys!), I'll just post a few pictures with mini recaps to hold you over until I catch up on my sleep. I actually forgot my camera all day Friday, so these are just from Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

THURSDAY:
We got into town and headed straight for the stadium. We tailgated at Cask'n Flagon's, which is literally right across the street from the stadium! Tailgating for Red Sox game is equivalent to tailgating for Gator Football games for all of you southerners like me that don't know those Northerners and their baseball!

Us at Fenway Park...Amazing!!

After the game, we drove to CT and met the rest of the crew out at the bars.

FRIDAY:
No pics from today. Chris went golfing on this amazing golf course and I went to the vineyards with the ladies. We both had SO much fun!! We got back in time to hurry up and do a quick change and head to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.

SATURDAY:
We got up, worked out for a little bit, and then met the groom and the groomsmen for lunch. I helped get Chris ready and off to the wedding, and then the rest of us had A/C'd busses that took us from the hotel to the church then to the reception, and finally back to the hotel. What a wedding! So fun! We made some great new friends and had SUCH a good time!

SUNDAY:
We got up and went to brunch at the bride's parents house. It was so delicious and so beautiful! After we wished the new couple a happy honeymoon (and told them not to forget...happy wife equals happy life!), we took two new friends with us to Boston.

Our hotel was so nice, and right next to both the Harbor and the airport, so it was super convenient too! We ate outside overlooking the Harbor, then headed out for the night.

The original Cheers!

MONDAY:
We walked ALL over Boston!! The history of that city is just absolutely amazing!
C: Go stand in the center of there so I can take your pic.
K: Umm, ok.
Chris stands with the camera to his face for 20 mins 20 seconds, but doesn't say anything.
K: Um, have you taken the pic yet?! (Click on the picture to look at my feet) Um, K...I''m done posing!

We also caught the T up to Harvard to see that campus. The buildings and the campus there were absolutely amazing as well. Do you think it's bad if I frame some of those pictures and put them on the wall for someday kids room?! They will, of course, be smart enough to get a full scholarship there!

I have 8 trillion more pictures, but in the interest of time, and blog post length, I'll leave it at those! We headed back Monday night and got up Tuesday morning and drove over from Melbourne. It was such a fun trip!

Between work and trying to get my house back in order from unpacking, I won't be doing any projects the rest of this week...but hopefully I can finish my 'small' projects this weekend!

Hope everyone's had a great week!

The more serious side of me

I try to stay chipper on here...when I'm having a down day or am just feeling off, I don't generally blog. But, there's a serious issue that I'll either have to tell everyone about individually or blog about. I also think it's important, and not something to be embarrassed by...and probably something we should all discuss more openly than we do.

So what is it already?

Boobs.

I had my yearly checkup last week with my lady doctor. She asked, like she does every year, if I've been good about doing monthly self breast exams. After I said yes, she asked if I've felt any lumps. The problem here is that I have lumpy boobs (sounds attractive, huh?), so I always feel lumps. I had told Chris that I was a little nervous about my yearly this time though because I thought I felt 2 odd lumps, although I didn't mention that to her.

After the exam, she asked if our baby plan was to start trying within the next year (perhaps) and then said that she wanted to get an ultra sound to look at two areas that concerned her. Apparently having babies ruins your boobs for quite a few years, and she didn't want to miss anything.

Good deal...she's being overly cautious. I do have breast cancer on both sides (Gma on Dad's side, Great gma on Mom's side), so it's good to be cautious.

The ultra sound was today. I was pretty good at keeping the mind set of 'wait to worry until there's something to worry about' up until I got there. The place I went to is the Susan Cheek Needler Breast Center. It's a warm and cozy place, and I think most women are there for their annual mammograms. Which means they're 40's, 50's, 60's, etc...

I stuck out like a sore thumb. I felt like a little kid. I think I was scared like a little kid because of all of the sad looks I got before I even got back to the exam room. I'm 28...it's obvious I'm not there for a mammogram. They won't even do one on me (thank god) because I'm too young. I've actually been through all of this a few years back and everything came back a.ok (and no one looked at me with those puppy dog sad eyes in the waiting rooms either).

So anyways, when the tech came in to do the ultra sound, I think she could tell I was nervous. She took some pics of the spots my lady doc had written down, and sent in the radiologist. I told the radiologist the same song and dance that I had told my lady doctor and she did an exam too. As she put her ice cold hands on my boobs, she says "oh my goodness, you DO have lumpy boobs!!". Gee thanks doc.

She had the tech come back in and ultrasound a few more areas of concern.

Diagnostic: Gray. Not good, not bad. There's a few lumps that don't feel like cysts (those move) and are new growths (bad - they have my ultrasounds from a few years back to compare to) but are small (good) and are most likely benign tumors (also good).

So what now? I had a lump removed when I was 18 that was a benign tumor. The reason they removed it was because I was going to college, and they knew monitoring it would be difficult. I'm now on the monitoring plan with these new lumps. I go back in 6 months to see if they've grown any (they measured them) and if they haven't, I think I do it once or twice more and then I'm good to go. If they have...well, we take that road then.

I am very blessed to have so many friends and family that will want to be updated on this, and while it might seem like a personal matter, it really isn't. It's real, and it's something I really really hope all of you gals get checked out. Do I feel like repeating this same story to all of you? Not really :-), although I have no problem whatsoever discussing any of it with anyone! I'm not going to lie and say that I'm not a little scared and nervous about it, but that's just today. I'll go back to the mindset of not worrying until there's something to worry about soon enough and then repeat the cycle in 6 months. Fun times!

If you haven't yet, get your boobs checked! I'm 28...if I'm not too young for there to be 6 month checkups, then none of you guys are either!!! And for those of you that are old enough to get mammograms instead of ultra sounds, do me a favor and don't scare us 'kids' by giving us the sad puppy dog eyes. It makes us nervous!

I'll get off my podium now...time to go running with Chris and Kodi (and the neighborhood dogs...that's another blog) anyways! Have a great night!

Birthday Weekend

Friday was my 28th Birthday. I've decided that early, mid, and late 20's no longer applies. I am now just in my 20's. I didn't get any older, just better!

Chris woke me up with breakfast on Friday. Strawberry covered pancakes with whip cream on top...yuuum!!! He asked me if I wanted him to make me dinner and I just laughed at him. While he does try in the kitchen occasionally, he's much better at turning on the oven, taking something out of the freezer, putting it on a baking sheet, and setting the timer these days. His cooking skills with school and work combined have gone waaaay down. That's okay though, my breakfast was delicious!!

We had our friends from Gainesville come into town for the weekend, and my PT (paper twin) Erin cooked everyone a yummy dinner and brought it over. We played Taboo and Apples to Apples. I wanted a mellow birthday weekend...the past few weekends have been a bit much for me!

On Saturday, Erin, Janelle, and I headed to the Strawberry Festival to meet 2 of my other friends (coincidentally named Erin and Chris also), and to show my PT Erin what the Strawberry Festival was all about. Erin caught the most entertaining part of it on video. Pig Races. They were hilarious. Heats 1 and 2 were actually really fast. Click here to check out heat two. (And yes, the bleachers are packed. We got there early to get our seats!)

Heat three was the funniest though. Erin couldn't get them all of the way around (bandwidth reasons), but the beginning is funny enough to watch. The initial front runner had to stop to use the rest room and wound up finishing last.

On Sunday, we met up with 2 more of our friends the 4 of us (Janelle, Yulander, Chris, and myself) played quite a few games of beach volleyball. One of my friends out there's daughters made me cupcakes for my birthday, so everyone joined in singing Happy Birthday to me with the kids. It was super cute and sweet!

I had such a great birthday weekend...I am blessed every day to be surrounded by the people I am in my life!!!

Happy Monday!

Funny News

I don't watch as much of the news as I should to keep up to date with things. Occasionally, when I'm channel surfing, if I hear something that peaks my interest, I'll stay tuned.

I'm pretty sure the goal of the news is not to be funny...but sometimes the news itself just cracks Chris and I up.

Last week, there was a report about a guy who got arrested for renting out homes that are going through foreclosures. That seems smart, not silly, right? The catch is that the guy didn't own a single one of the homes that he rented out (31). He'd put a note on the door claiming "adverse possession", and then switch out the locks, fix up the homes, and rent them out. In his news interview, he was very confused about why he was being arrested for "helping the county" by putting people in homes that would otherwise be empty.

Here's your sign...

And although this next story didn't happen in the Tampa Bay area, it is equally as humorous. There's a guy in Ohio whose home was being foreclosed on. To stop the bank from taking it, he BULLDOZED his $350,000 house down. Take THAT bank!!! That's one way to stop a foreclosure...

In other news that's not funny, but beautiful, one of my best friends, Ashleigh got married this past weekend. I don't have any pictures just yet, but if I get some, I'll post them on here so you can see what a beautiful, blessed, and fun event their wedding was! I was so thankful to be a part of such a beautiful event!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JENNY!!!

Jenny became one of my best friends our freshman year in college. We went to high school together, and at the very end of our senior year started sort of being friends, but we were inseparable for most of our college days.

Jenny taught me that being a complete goof ball isn't dumb, it's fun. She taught me to dance and sing when I feel like it. She taught me that it's possible to laugh so hard in one day that your cheeks are sore for the next week. She taught me to not care what others think, just be me.

She's such a great person, and I love her to death!!! Hope you have a great one Jenny!!! Thanks for being there for me throughout the years...my life is much better with you in it! I miss you tons!!!! Have fun today at Jimmy Buffett (I figured the pirate pic of you was semi-appropriate for that)!

Pink Cup

One of my best friends, Ashleigh is getting married at the end of this month. In October, we did her bachelorette party in Key West. I bought some large cups and asked Ashleigh to send me nicknames (if they had them) for all of the girls going down there.

Her nickname for me, has always been, Kara F*ing Drago. And that's exactly what she sent back to my question. My married name is not Drago, so it's just Kara F*ing for short now. So, when I was stenciling all of the girls names on their cups, I wrote Kara F*ing on mine. I'm a good friend.

I had brought the cup with me (it's pink) in the truck to head over to my parents for Christmas. I accidentally left it at my Dad's house, and asked my T. Mom (I have two, D. Mom and T. Mom) if she could bring my pink cup back to me when they came over to my home for New Years Eve.

She kept telling my Dad that she couldn't forget Kara's F*ing Cup! And then when she walked in to the house, she said "Oh Kara, I brought you your F*ing Cup back!!" I'm sure anyone else listening thought 'Chill out woman, it's just a pink cup!!'

(F*ing is pronounced Effing, not the actual word).

Oh...the things I do for my friends!!

Happy Tuesday!

Taboo

Chris and I went over to our friends, Erin and Chris's (yes, having husbands with the same first name can be confusing) for dinner, drinks, and games on Saturday night. We played one of my favorite games, Taboo. I'm not great at the game by any means, but it makes me laugh every time we play it. We played girls against boys.

I call Erin my paper twin because she's blonde, an electrical engineer, plays volleyball, and is goofy and social still like I am...oh, and we both met our husbands in college and they're both named Chris. She also thinks a lot like I do sometimes, which is key to winning Taboo.

Erin and I generally are teammates when we're playing with just the 4 of us...Erin used to hate the game, but I think it's growing on her :-). You can't help but think some of it is funny. If you don't know what Taboo is, check out the Wikipedia for an explanation here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taboo_(game).

Some funnies from the past few times we've played Taboo:
Word: Diaper
My Chris: It's something that you use to catch the gross stuff on little people...it's permanent.
Other Chris: Permanent?! Skin?!
...maybe that's why we don't have kids yet. Chris thinks those things are permanent.

Word: Arena
Me: It's a big place that you use a ball to play in.
Erin: arena
Boys: Seriously? How'd you get that?!?!

We had my cousin, who is somewhat liberal over, and his boyfriend during the holidays. The teams were me, my cousin, and the other Chris vs. my Chris, Erin, and the boyfriend.
Word: Critic
My cousin: It's what you'd call someone that doesn't agree with me.
Chris: outcast, NO, Republican.
Really Chris?!?! Really?!

Word: Port
Kara: Tampa has one of these.
Erin: Port.
